About

Hi, I’m Lauren Mitchell

Web analytics consultant helping businesses make sense of their data — without sacrificing user privacy.

My Story

I started my career as a UX researcher in Austin, Texas back in 2012. Working at a digital agency, I quickly realized that beautiful dashboards mean nothing if they don’t lead to better decisions.

After years of helping e-commerce startups and enterprise clients navigate the world of digital analytics, I noticed a troubling pattern: companies were drowning in data but starving for insights. They had access to every click, scroll, and hover — yet struggled to answer basic questions about their users.

In 2020, I moved to Lisbon and shifted my focus to privacy-first analytics. With GDPR reshaping how we think about data collection, I saw an opportunity to help businesses build sustainable, ethical measurement practices.

What I Believe

  • Privacy is not optional. Your users deserve respect. Full stop.
  • You should own your data. Third-party platforms come and go. Your insights shouldn’t disappear with them.
  • Less is more. Track what matters, ignore the vanity metrics.
  • Simplicity wins. The best analytics setup is one your team actually uses.

What I Work With

I specialize in privacy-friendly analytics tools and first-party data strategies:

  • Plausible, Fathom, Simple Analytics — lightweight, cookie-free tracking
  • Matomo — self-hosted analytics with full data ownership
  • PostHog — product analytics and session recordings
  • Mixpanel & Amplitude — event-based analytics for product teams
  • Metabase & Apache Superset — custom dashboards on your own data

Beyond the Data

When I’m not digging through spreadsheets or writing SQL queries, you’ll find me hunting for vinyl records in Lisbon’s flea markets, training for my next half marathon, or enjoying specialty coffee with my cat Pixel.
